PARTEC receives WÜRTH Junior World Market Leader Award
SCHWÄBISCH HALL, GERMANY - On the opening night of the 1st German Congress of Global Market Leaders in Schwäbisch Hall, Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG, together with trade journal Produktion, presented the Junior World Market Leader Award for companies which through their innovative products, carry on the traditions established by global market leaders. The jury awarded the prize to Görlitz-based Partec GmbH, one of the few traditional family businesses in the biotechnology sector. At its two sites in Münster and Görlitz, Partec develops and produces state-of-the-art products ‘made in Germany’ for research and practice.
“Here at Würth, we didn’t have to think twice when asked whether we could envisage sponsoring this prize, which we have organised together with trade journal Produktion. The prize is aimed at rewarding and promoting the drive and dynamism needed to continue to produce future global market leaders and whetting the appetite for new undertakings,” explained Robert Friedmann, spokesman for the Würth Group’s Central Management Board, at the award ceremony. Partec GmbH executive director Roland Göhde accepted the trophy at a ceremony in the Neubausaal in Schwäbisch Hall.
The jury emphasised Partec’s high level of ethical responsibility. The company has successfully adapted the development and distribution of its products to local conditions in Africa and Asia. An important milestone was the introduction of its CyFlow® instruments for diagnosing HIV/AIDS immune status in 2002. This allowed the annual cost of testing to be reduced from an average of 160 euros per patient (World Health Organisation figures) to just 8 euros per patient. More than a million HIV/AIDS patients have now benefited from long term care and support using Partec diagnostic products. The company has developed a global distribution network of 14 branch offices and beaten off competition from major American corporations.
