Patents

Partec was founded in 1967 for the development of particle counting and analysing systems. Experiences in Flow Cytometry (formerly called "pulse cytophotometry"), which date back to 1968, were the basis for the introduction of the first family of Flow Cytometers worldwide: ICP 11, ICP 22 produced by Phywe AG, Göttingen, Germany, ICP 22A produced by Ortho Instruments.

A large number of key patents in the field of Flow Cytometry were the result of the research activities of Partec. Several of them have been licensed to other companies like Phywe AG, Boehringer GmbH, Ortho Instruments, and Becton Dickinson. Other patents are used in Flow Cytometers produced by Becton Dickinson, Coulter Electronics and Dako/Cytomation (now Beckman Coulter).
